Earlier this morning, Andy Schmookler and I appeared for the 54th time on 550 AM, WSVA. The topics of the day include the looming potential government shutdown, the race to replace Bob Goodlatte in the 6th district of Virginia, and more.
Yesterday morning, Andy Schmookler and I took to the air on WSVA, 550 AM for our 53rd monthly installment to discuss local, state, and national politics. A central focus was the U.S. Senate in Alabama which took place the day before. In addition, we also spoke about the impending retirement of 6th district House of Representatives member Bob Goodlatte and the continuing investigation of collusion between the Russian government and Donald Trump.
On the heels of a historic election in the state of Virginia, Andy Schmookler and I returned to 550 AM, WSVA to discuss the results. Although a majority of the polls predicted a victory for Democratic Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam, few pundits thought that the Democrats would make such massive gains in the House of Delegates. As one might expect, it was the focus of our discussion today.
On Wednesday, September 20th, Andy Schmookler and I appeared on 550 AM, WSVA for the 50th time. We started off talking about the upcoming election for the governor of Virginia. I offered several reasons why I believe that liberty-minded folks should not vote for Ed Gillespie, the Republican nominee, in November. From there, we spoke about efforts to revive the Obamacare repeal and the possible brewing conflict with North Korea.
Although originally scheduled to air today, August 16th, WSVA moved our radio hour to Monday, August 14th, due to pressing events at the time. And despite Andy Schmookler being in Shenandoah County and my recent move to Morgantown, WV, the show will go on!
For our 49th episode, the issues centered around the rally and violence in Charlottesville over the weekend as well as a possible military strike against North Korea due to threats against Guam. We also touched on the failure of Obamacare repeal and the feud between Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell and President Trump. We would have also spoken about Elizabeth Warren and the fight for ideological control of the Democratic Party, but we ran out of time.
In July of 2013, Andy Schmookler and I got together on the air to talk about politics on 550 AM, WSVA. At that time, who would guess that four years later we would still be discussing the issues of the day?
Well, yesterday marked the four year anniversary. The show was dominated by the news of Donald Trump Jr. and his tweets regarding setting up a meeting with a Russian agent during the 2016 presidential election. Andy brought up Watergate and I spoke a little about the 2017 election for Virginia governor. And then, before you knew it, the hour was over.
In addition, the July 13th show was the last one I’ll be doing in the studio for quite awhile given that I’m moving to Morgantown, WV in a few weeks. But, the station says that the show will go on!
The central focus, as you might expect, was a discussion of the election results. We also spoke about the recent congressional testimonies of James Comey and Jess Sessions.
On the morning of May 3rd, Andy Schmookler and I appeared for our 46th time on 550 AM, WSVA. For the first time, neither of us were live in the studio today as Andy lives a good distance away and although I presently live in Harrisonburg, unfortunately, my car repairs are taking longer than anticipated.
Today, we spoke about Representative Bob Goodlatte (VA-6) and his lack of accessibility to the average person in the Shenandoah Valley, as well as President Donald Trump, his various proposals, and whether what he is doing is constitutional. We also briefly touched on the recent Democratic primary for the 26th district House of Delegates race.
Our next show will be at 9 AM on June 14th, the day after the Republican and Democratic primaries.
In case you missed the show live, you can find it here.
The main topic of the day was Neil Gorsuch and his appointment to the Supreme Court. As the confirmation vote draws near, more Democratic Senators, including Virginia’s own Tim Kaine, have announced they will not support Mr. Gorsuch. Will he be confirmed? Is this payback for what happened to Merrick Garland last year? Will Senate Republican use the nuclear option?
The next subject we briefly tackled concerned a speech that Andy Schmookler gave outside of Representative Bob Goodlatte’s Harrisonburg office the previous day. At that time, he challenged Goodlatte to a debate or for him to investigate the possible unethical and illegal actions taken by President Trump both before and after he was elected.
On the morning of March 15th, Andy Schmookler and I, Joshua Huffman, appeared on 550 AM WSVA for our monthly radio hour. The topics for discussion included: Obamacare and Paul Ryan’s attempts to craft his own health care law, the 2017 Virginia elections including the increasing number of contested elections for the House of Delegates in the central Shenandoah Valley, and President Trump’s connections with Russia and whether this issue creates a massive conflict of interest with his duties to the Constitution and the American people.
